Three injured, one arrested after hit-and-run

A local man was arrested Tuesday evening after he was involved in a hit-and-run accident on Highway 21 just south of Miller Road in Washington County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at about 8:05 p.m. Phyllis Rorer, 58, of Cadet, was driving her 2016 Kia Forte northbound on Highway 21 when she slowed and began to make a right turn into a driveway.

Steven Becker, 45, of Cadet, was also driving northbound on Highway 21 in his 1992 Ford F150 when he rear-ended Rorer’s vehicle. Becker then fled from the scene of the accident and was arrested by the patrol an hour later.

Rorer was moderately injured and her two passengers, Katelynn Heverns, 18, of Hillsboro, and Billie Sansoucie, 41, of Cadet, both received minor injuries. All three women were wearing their seat belts and were taken to Washington County Memorial Hospital by Washington County Ambulance.

Becker was arrested for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident and suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He was being held in the Washington County Jail.
