Roundup: Dragons rally for road win at Potosi

Ste. Genevieve 8, Potosi 5

POTOSI – Ste. Genevieve tallied four runs during the sixth inning on Tuesday to defeat Potosi 8-5 in MAAA conference softball action.

Alyssa Huber homered and led Ste. Genevieve (3-3, 1-2) two hits and three RBI. She also pitched a complete game and struck out two while allowing seven hits.

Sally Grieshaber finished with two hits for the Dragons, while Emma Nickelson, Sydney Oehlert, and Britani Clanton each added one.

Kennedy Coleman and Kiley Price each posted two hits for Potosi (2-2, 1-2). Sydney Litton doubled while Jayci Short and Hannah Jarvis added singles.

Emma Eaton started for the Lady Trojans, and recorded five strikeouts with seven hits allowed through the first 5 1/3 innings.

North County 12, Fredericktown 1

BONNE TERRE – North County debuted its new home softball diamond in style by scoring eight runs during the first inning.

Brianna Morgan allowed only one hit and three walks over five innings, and notched five strikeouts as the Lady Raiders defeated Fredericktown 12-1.

Kennedy Kohler and Emma Becker were each 2-for-2 with a double, and Michaela Mason contributed a pair of singles to pace North County (5-2, 2-0).

Maizie Tyree, Emma Keen and Samantha Payne also singled in the win.

Taylor Barrett had the lone hit for Fredericktown (1-5, 0-2).


Arcadia Valley 2, Viburnum 0

VIBURNUM – Karson Dement compiled eight kills and 10 digs on Tuesday night, and the Arcadia Valley volleyball team rolled past Viburnum 25-19, 25-9.

Macey Browers posted double figures three times with 26 assists, 14 digs and 10 service points for the Lady Tigers (4-1).

Josie Landrum added five kills with eight digs, and libero Katie Whited totaled 17 digs with seven points in the victory.

Maddie Dement had four kills plus a block while Gracee Smith served eight points and equaled Kirsten Day with three kills each.

Central 2, De Soto 1

PARK HILLS – Some unforced errors plagued Central during the middle set, but the Lady Rebels bounced back with a dominant finish to dispatch De Soto 25-18, 20-25, 25-13.

Seniors again led the Lady Rebels (2-2) offensively as Brooklyn Pace recorded 15 kills and Nora Graves sent down 13.

Avery Norris ended with 20 assists and Hannah Stewart dished out 14 more in the victory. Buckli Moss totaled a team-high nine digs.

West County 2, South Iron 0

ANNAPOLIS – Randi Hale served 11 points and knocked down three kills as West County eased past South Iron 25-15, 25-19.

Cheyenne highlighted the attack with eight kills while Kylee McKinney spiked four more and Jordan Stevens added three for the Lady Bulldogs (2-1).

Alyssa Roever finished with 11 assists and a team-high 13 points. Ivy Meinershagen had eight assists, and sophomore Makenzie Simily picked up eight points while joining the varsity rotation.

Farmington 2, Hillsboro 0

FARMINGTON – Macey Pauls produced 10 kills and 10 digs as Farmington topped Hillsboro 25-20, 25-20 to win its third straight home match.

Jordyn Harris spiked seven kills and Blair Busenbark added six kills with six digs for the Knights (3-1). Sarah Bauer made a team-high 10 assists.

Emily Greif chipped in five digs and Briley Thomas dished out five assists.

Valle Catholic 2, Festus 1

FESTUS, Mo. – Valle Catholic secured another narrow victory after trailing in the closing stages of the third set for a second straight match.

The Lady Warriors overcame deficits of 12-8 and 23-21 down the stretch to secure a 25-16, 24-26, 25-23 triumph over Festus.

Lainey Bauman paced Valle Catholic (4-0) with 11 kills and added 12 digs. Sydni Basler recorded a team-high 30 digs after totaling 31 Monday against Jefferson.

Hannah Viox tallied eight kills while Riley Wolk ended with seven. They each contributed three solo blocks.

Taylor Siebert made 31 assists, and Rachel Loida finished with nine digs.


Farmington 4, Cape Central 0

FARMINGTON – Bryce Sancegraw netted his second hat trick of the early season – exclusively in the second half – and Farmington blanked Cape Central 4-0 on the soccer pitch.

Gatlin Roberts opened the scoring in the 15th minute after Sancegraw received a return pass from Jackson Schrum to spring the attack.

Sancegraw increased his season total to 10 goals, and made it 2-0 after halftime by heading a pinpoint cross from Ian Asher before tacking on two unassisted tallies.

Chad Silvey stopped the only two shots he faced in a shutout for the Knights (4-1).


Potosi 7, Arcadia Valley 2

POTOSI – Lacey Portell and Taylor Campbell each posted an 8-4 result stop the singles rankings, and the Potosi girls tennis team earned a 7-2 conference win over Arcadia Valley.

Emily Missey, Maggie Portell and Sarah Hornsey also prevailed for Potosi (1-2, 1-1), which picked up two doubles victories including a shutout by Maggie Portell and Hornsey.

Arcadia Valley (1-2, 1-1) got a narrow 8-6 triumph from top doubles pairing Sidney Tyndall and Bethany Musser, along with an 8-3 singles tally from Ashley Theros.

FARMINGTON – The Farmington girls tennis team could not overcome a doubles sweep at the hands of district opponent Mehlville in a 7-2 loss.

Virginia Lugo scored an 8-3 victory, and Faith Nelson returned to varsity singles action for the Knights (2-2) with an 8-5 win over Megan Miller.
