Farmington, Valle, SG lead all-district honors

MAAA programs Valle Catholic, Ste. Genevieve and Farmington each captured district championships on area volleyball courts last week.

All three clubs have received ample representation in terms of postseason honors, including multiple athletes on their respective first teams of seven.

Valle Catholic fills six total spots after dominating Class 1, District 4 with senior libero Sydni Basler, middle Riley Wolk, setter Taylor Siebert and junior outside Lainey Bauman named First Team.

The Lady Warriors clinched a return to the Class 1 state final four by defeating Advance and Lesterville on Saturday, and will return to action Friday at the Show Me Center.

Ste. Genevieve reached the Class 3 quarterfinal round after taking the title plaque in District 2, and put senior middle Avery Reed, setter Drue Lalumandier and junior Jennifer Humbolt on the First Team.

Farmington celebrated a Class 4, District 1 crown on its home court as a No. 3 seed after pulling off a pair of two-point, three-set victories over Poplar Bluff and Jackson.

First Team honors went to Knights juniors Jesse Miller and Blair Busenbark. Their team was eliminated by defending state champion Lafayette in a sectional contest.

Arcadia Valley was ousted from the Class 2, District 3 semifinals after securing a third consecutive 25-win campaign. Middle hitters Laney Tucker and Maddie Dement earned First Team recognition.

Central senior Brooklyn Pace was a top choice in Class 3, District 2.
