NWS issues Winter Weather Advisory
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for St. Francois and surrounding counties from noon Sunday to 3 a.m. Monday.
Mixed precipitation is expected with ice, snow and sleet accumulations around a tenth of an inch that will result in difficult travel conditions. Localized higher amounts are possible.
Combined snow and sleet accumulations from a dusting to half-an-inch are expected.
Air temperatures are expected to rise above freezing late Sunday afternoon and evening, however, ground and road temperatures will remain below freezing, with travel impacts still expected to continue.
A Winter Weather Advisory is issued for a variety of winter weather conditions, such as snow, blowing snow, sleet or freezing drizzle and rain. It only takes a small amount of wintry precipitation to make roads, bridges, sidewalks and parking lots icy and dangerous. It is often difficult to tell when ice begins to form, so don’t be caught off guard.
