FCCLA Sweetheart Coronation Feb. 24

This year 10 organizations at FHS have entered candidates in the Sweetheart Coronation sponsored by Fredericktown Family Career and Community Leaders of America.

The candidates are Alex Sikes (Art Club), Carson Stephens (JROTC), Montana Hovis and Colton Helm (BETA), Blayke Maxwell and Wyatt Hruley (Drama), Sara White and Augi Hovis (FFA), Jessika Matthews and Hunter Bellew (FBLA), Jenna Marteindale Wood and Colton Helm (Scholar Bowl), Malayna Elrod and Easton Elrod (Yearbook), Danielle Campbell and Patrick Sikes (StuCo) and Macie Hovis and Connor DeFrancesco (FCCLA).

The Sweetheart Coronation will be Feb. 24. In the afternoon, the candidates are interviewed by out-of-town judges. The judges score on the following categories: personality, poise and manners, organization involvement, character and service traits.

At 6 p.m., the public portion of the coronation takes place in the gymnasium. The family, friends and student body are invited to view the candidates, one candidate will present an oral speech relating to this year’s theme “Life is Sweet,” and the other candidate will present the purpose of the organization. The judges will choose the king and queen and then FCCLA will have a cake punch reception in the lobby. After the reception, FCCLA sponsors a formal dance open for all high school students to attend.
