Walter Pettus

DESLOGE — Walter J. Donnie “Curly” Pettus, 83, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at St. Joe Manor in Bonne Terre. He was born December 4, 1934, in Bonne Terre to the late Walter H. & Naomi I. (Eggars) Pettus. On May 12, 1955, he and Mary L. Plumb were married in St. Louis, Missouri. She preceded him in death May 4, 2013.

Curly had been a Teamster Dock Foreman for many years. He loved being outdoors, camping and spending time with his family, traveling and making memories. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed gardening and his backyard bird sanctuary.

He is survived by four children, Terry (Padi) Pettus of Farmington, Missouri, Pamela (Johnny) Guidry of Breaux Bridges Louisiana, Sandra (Charles) Yager of Moscow Mills, Missouri, and Larry Pettus of Illinois; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Judy Stegall, Fern Stegall, Carol Graham, Phyllis (Richard) Stanfill, Elaine Dixon and Dale (Linda) Pettus; and his best friends, John R. Coleman Sr. and Bobo.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Micki Kremer and brothers and sisters: Sammie Ford, Ronnie Pettus, Joyce Degonia, David Pettus, and Steve Pettus.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2018, at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory in Granite City, Illinois. Visitation will proceed Saturday, March 10, 2018, from 10 a.m. until time of services at Noon at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge with Rev. Randy Murphy officiating.
