‘You Are The Light’ returns in June
First Baptist Church of Farmington is once again having their local mission project known as “You are the Light” Family Mission Project. During the week of June 25-29, 2018 from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. we will help families in Farmington and the surrounding area by completing tasks that the homeowners would have difficulty completing because of age, disability, or possibly finances.
This is the 12th year for the project. Since 2007 volunteers during the week-long event have helped more than 600 families with projects around their homes. Those projects include power washing the outside of homes, washing windows, cleaning up yards, mowing and trimming grass, painting, repairing ramps, cleaning gutters, installing smoke detectors, and many other outside projects. Each project is evaluated to determine the feasibility of being completed.
The congregation of First Baptist Church would like to let the people of the Farmington area know they do care and will help if possible. Each year there are more than 100 people participating in the mission project. Organizers say the goal is to let the love of Jesus Christ shine through each of the volunteers, holding to the scripture which reads, “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven;” Matthew 5:16.
If you, or someone you know, have a project that you may need help with, please contact the office at Farmington First Baptist Church at 210 North “A” Street, 756-4654 or Chuck Henson at 756-1362.
