“Thank you all for making the trip in the rain to see this beautiful new building. This building is a blessing. But the building is not about this grand event. Or the people who are here. Or the niceties that are happening….. This building is about the people that God brings to it every time the doors are open. It is about their dignity and recognizing them as people, Children of God.

She also recognized the individuals she referred to as the most important people in the audience today – the volunteers.

“I want to publicly thank them,” Rhodus said. “Without their dedication and commitment, none of this would be possible. They are kind and compassionate. And they treat our clients with love and respect. I cannot say enough good things about the. Thank you!

“This ministry is about feeding the poor. It is a mission of the heart for those of us involved. St Vincent DePaul said, ‘Go to the poor, for there you will most assuredly see God.’

“I would like to leave you with a quote that has truly resonated with me lately. Then Blessed Mother Theresa of Calcutta said, ‘If we do not recognize Jesus in the poor, He will not be able to recognize us at the Day of Judgement.’
