Fundraising dance for Franklin County Honor Flight

The Valley of the Meramec Chapter, NSDAR (DAR) from Union, Missouri are sponsoring a fund-raising dance in Farmington to raise money to support Franklin County Honor Flight in their mission to honor Missouri veterans which includes the Farmington area.

The dance will take place at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 5896, 814 East Karsch Blvd. Farmington, MO 63640. Live music by “The Certified Country Band” with dancing from 6 to 9 p.m. Suggested donation is $10 per person.

All donated proceeds will go to Franklin County Honor Flight to help them in their mission to provide all-expense-paid one-day trips in 2018 for World War Two, Korean War, and Vietnam War veterans to see their memorials and more in the Washington, D.C. area. Six trips were conducted in 2017.

Veterans fly round-trip from St. Louis, then board a luxury-chartered coach in the D.C. area to enjoy a day of sight-seeing which includes memorials such as WWII, Korean, Vietnam, Pentagon 9-11, Navy, Air Force, Iwo Jima, Arlington National Cemetery and Change of the Guard, and much more as time permits.

“Best day of my life” is the extraordinary comment most often heard from veterans which have experienced this all-free trip. All meals are included.

Since their first trip in November of 2007, Franklin County Honor Flight volunteers have flown more than 1800 veterans in over 50 flights from Missouri and surrounding states including over 120 veterans from the Farmington area.

Franklin County Honor Flight covers from Jefferson County south to Arkansas line.

Do you know a veteran who served during one of these three wars and would enjoy seeing their memorials? If so, please contact us at the phone number below to secure an application. Veterans need not to have served on the battlefield; any veteran who served during the official war dates anywhere in the world including mainland America is eligible for an Honor Flight trip.

Franklin County Honor Flight is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation. They have no paid staff and receive no federal or state funding. They depend entirely on tax-deductible donations from individuals and businesses like you. For more information on Franklin County Honor Flight or the DAR, feel free to contact Rosalie at 636-584-5253 or 636-390-1802. No matter how small, all donations are needed and appreciated.
