Granger Smith coming to civic center

Keith Hutson is an entrepreneur with many interests – from restaurants to wineries.

Most recently, he started KW Hutson Entertainment as a way to bring musical acts to the Parkland – and, in turn, bring more visitors to the area.

The first concert presented by the new promotion group is “When the Good Guys Win” tour featuring headliner Granger Smith. The show will be May 12 at the Farmington Civic Center. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the show beginning at 7 p.m.

Special guests for the show are Ashley McBryde and local favorite Shannon Cox. Tickets are available at the Farmington Civic Center or online at itickets.com. The cost is $40 for both pit and VIP floor seats; $35 for floor seats and $28 for arena seating.

Smith’s most recent single, “Happens Like That,” is currently in the top 20 on the Billboard charts. Hutson said Smith is also known for his alter ego, “Earl Dibbles, Jr.”

Hutson said he plans to bring two shows to the area a year. He decided to form the entertainment group as a way to bring more music concerts to the area.

“Maybe one in May/April then again in October/November,” he said, “… something like that.”

Tickets are on sale and Hutson said there are visitors coming from all areas of the Midwest – from across Missouri, Kansas, Tennessee, Indiana and Kentucky.

“Of course, they’ll be staying at hotels and eating here,” he said. “That’s why I’m wanting to bring these shows to town to help with tourism.”

Hutson is partnering with Brandon Hubbard at Hub’s Pub in Bonne Terre.

“We decided to put this together,” he said. “So, Twin Oaks Vineyard and Hub’s Pub are sponsoring the show.”

Plans are already in the works for another country act to come to the civic center in the fall. But, Hutson said, he’s open to bringing artists from any genre to the area.

“We have the perfect venue with the Farmington Civic Center,” Hutson said. “That’s the kind of events we need.”
