Richard H. Ross

Richard H. Ross, 93, died Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Clark’s Mountain Nursing Center in Piedmont. He was born October 15, 1924 in the Peachtree community, the son of Harry and Nola (Eaton) Ross.

Richard married Norma Wilson February 9, 1951 at Piggott, Arkansas and had lived in the Piedmont area most of his life.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sons Richard Lee Ross and Dale Edwin Ross; and brothers, Eugene Ross, LeRoy Ross and Ronnie Ross.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Norma Ross, of the home; daughter Cindy Stout and her husband Jerry of Piedmont; brother Ralph Ross and his wife Evelyn, of Silva; sisters Marie Matchell and her husband John, of Bolivar, and Dorothy Weber of Piedmont. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Benjamin Hinkle, Richard Dale Ross and his wife Cora, Amanda House and her husband Joey; five great grandchildren, McKayla and Richard Allen Ross, Byron Hoffman, Noah and Arik House, and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was a World War II veteran, serving in the US Army Air Corp. and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Piedmont. He owned and operated Ross Ford Sales in Piedmont and Valley Motors in Ironton for many years. He also was part owner of Sheets Motor Company in Fredericktown. Richard will be very deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Morrison-Worley Chapel in Piedmont with the Rev. Don Hutto and the Rev. Dan Ross officiating. Mike Ross gave the eulogy and the Ross Family provided special music. Roger Ross, Randy Ross, Mike Ross, Don Ross, Gary Ross and Steve Matchell served as pall bearers. Interment was in the Eaton Cemetery under the direction of Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel. Memorials have been requested to the Friendship Baptist Church in Piedmont.
