Trojans finish 2-1 at home tourney

POTOSI – Noah Jacobsen recorded three hits, and Ryan Coleman pitched five innings for the win as Potosi defeated Sullivan 10-7 on Saturday to cap the Potosi round-robin tournament.

Bailey Crump singled twice, while Devon Brawley, Garrett Wilkinson, Colin Govero and Coleman contribute one hit each.

Landon Bone threw the final two frames on the mound for the save. Potosi (4-4) notched a second victory in the weekend event while the St. Louis Patriots went 3-0.

The tournament opened Friday morning with the home-schooled Patriots thumping the Trojans 13-1 after scoring six times in both the first and fourth innings.

But Potosi rebounded later in the day by posting an impressive 7-0 shutout against Sullivan. Ryker Walton delivered a complete game on the mound with seven strikeouts and four hits allowed.

The contest remained scoreless until the Trojans compiled six runs in the fifth inning. Collin Hahn paced the offense with two hits.

Rudy Zuellig, Coleman, Crump, Govero and Wilkinson bolstered the attack with hits. Potosi returns to conference action on Tuesday against Fredericktown.
