Knights clinch regular season golf crown

POTOSI – While the top-ranked players from three schools were locked in a close battle, Jonah Burgess emerged from the second group to deliver the steadiest round on Tuesday.

Burgess fired a five-over-par round of 41, and earned medalist honors by two shots while helping the Farmington golf team secure the MAAA regular season championship.

The Knights posted a composite score of 176 to edge the 181 of North County and 208 of Potosi to complete an unbeaten conference run at Fourche Valley Golf Club.

Despite tame wind and comfortable sunshine, scores were a bit elevated on the challenging and hilly 9-hole course where the Trojans call home.

Clayton Bach exhibited the Knights’ roster balance with a 43, equaling the North County duo of senior Lucas Spray and Will Claywell for runner-up status among individuals.

Dylan Wiles birdied No. 9 while carding 45, and Frankie Eaton rounded out the Farmington team total with 47. Alden Klug finished with 49.

Spray, who earned his own birdie at No. 1, created separation from both Eaton and Potosi standout Dalton Singer after the three were tied through seven holes.

Spray had the only clean tee shot on No. 6, and followed a solid approach by sinking a short par putt that nearly made a full revolution around the cup.

Braden Swift provided a 47, and Noah Umfleet notched a 48 for North County.

Singer paced Potosi with 44.

Arcadia Valley Triangular

IRONTON – Central sophomore Trevor Bradley eased to medalist distinction for Central with a four-stroke separation by shooting a round of 40 at Arcadia Valley Country Club.

But West County celebrated the tri-match team victory on Tuesday as all six members of its varsity roster finished within a four-shot span.

The Bulldogs totaled 187 to edge the 189 of Central, paced by identical scores of 44 turned in by Noah Bertram and Noah Vinson.

Reid Pratt carded 47 while teammates Bryce Pruett, Carson Clabaugh and Matt Clifton all tied with 48 to complete the West County tally.

Bradley Clark ended with 48, Gage Sisk notched 49 and Tanner Friend had 52 for the Rebels.

Austin Emmert paced host squad Arcadia Valley with 48, and Deavon Eakins scored 49. The Tigers compiled a team total of 211.
