MAC Music Department recalls TV theme faves
You remember those catchy sitcom theme songs, right?
You might not remember a single episode, but you’ll remember every note of that bouncy melody from “I Dream of Jeannie,” the funky intro notes of “Sanford and Son” and the unforgettable lyrics of “The Brady Brunch.”
Favorite TV theme songs will be performed for the community free of charge at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in Mineral Area College’s Fine Arts Theatre. The production, titled “The Tremendous Television Theme Transmission,” is being performed by MAC Studio Music “in front of a live, studio audience.”
Dr. Kevin White, chairman of MAC’s Music Department, says that fans of all ages will want to come out for the theme-songfest.
“The show will feature an entire evening of some of the most-fun, most-loved and most musical theme songs from the first 50 years of television history performed live on stage,” he said. “You will hear theme song favorites from the 1950s through the 1990s. From ‘I Love Lucy’ to ‘Spongebob Squarepants,’ performed live by a stage studio orchestra and a variety of vocalists. This show is fast-paced, unique and a lot of fun, with literally something for everybody.”
