Farmington Educational Foundation presents scholarships

The Farmington Educational Foundation presented more than $22,000 in scholarships to 22 Farmington High School seniors on May 16.

Much of the scholarship award money comes from memorials made in memory of former Farmington students, educators and members of the community who supported the district in a variety of ways.

This year’s scholarship recipients include:

Todd W. Jokerst Memorial Scholarship – a $2,000 scholarship in memory of a 1986 Farmington High School graduate by members of his family. This year’s recipient is Sukyi Scott.

Damion Dane Memorial Scholarship – a $2,000 scholarship in memory of a 1994 Farmington High School graduate by a local businessman. This year’s recipients are JC Odle and Derek Wisdom.

Farmington Educational Foundation Scholarship – a $2,000 scholarship presented by the foundation was awarded to Abigail Carter. Additional $1,000 scholarships were awarded to Kaia Schott, Morgan Govero, Megan Doty, Mackenzie Govero, Taylor Tucker, Shawn Nguyen, Katelyn King, and Thanh Phan.

Ron Short Memorial Scholarship – a $1,000 scholarship in memory of a champion for the school district, member of the Farmington Educational Foundation and longtime businessman. This year’s recipient is Jacob Oyler.

Evelyn Beatrice Bannister Memorial Scholarship – a $1,000 scholarship in memory of the mother of Angela Banister-Hahn, Farmington School Board and Educational Foundation member. This year’s recipient is Emily Briese.

Jim Dinwiddie Memorial Scholarship – a $1,000 scholarship in memory of the longtime Farmington administrator. This year’s recipients are Kenzie Holland and Dylan Allen.

Jimmy Gonz Memorial Scholarship – a $1,000 scholarship in memory of a 1983 Farmington High School graduate and supporter of the school. This year’s recipient is Zoe Johns.

Sue Bauche Memorial Choral Music Scholarship – a $1,000 scholarship in memory of an educator who dedicated her life to choral music and her students. This year’s recipient is Moira Kurtz.

Jane Eberhart Bradley Memorial Music Scholarship – a $2,000 scholarship awarded to a student whose course of study will be in the field of music education. This year’s recipient is William Staniford.

Janet Wells Memorial Scholarship – a $1,000 scholarship in memory of a Farmington educator. This year’s recipient Erin Coleman.

Randy Ragsdale Memorial Scholarship – a $1,000 scholarship in memory of an educator and coach in the district. This year’s recipient is Katrina Townsend.

Vicki Rorex Hoffman Memorial Scholarship – a $1,000 scholarship in memory of an educator awarded to a student who intends to pursue a degree in special education. This year’s recipient is Kenneth Whitworth.

Vicki Rorex Hoffman Memorial Scholarship – a $500 scholarship awarded to a student who has received special services and has been accepted into a college, vocational or technical school. This year’s recipient is Kenneth Whitworth.
