NWS issues Significant Weather Advisory until 7:45 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY for Iron, Reynolds Madison, Washington and St. Francois County until 7:45 p.m.

At 6:47 p.m., Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm seven miles northeast of Oates, moving east at 25 mph. Nickel size hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include Farmington, Bismarck, Ironton, Park Hills, Pilot Knob, Iron Mountain Lake, Arcadia, Belleview, Iron Mountain, Glover, Roselle, Saco, Leadington, Caledonia, Hogan, Black, Granite, Chloride and Doe Run.

This also includes St. Joe State Park, Johnsons Shut-Ins State Park, Fort Davidson Historic Site, Elephant Rocks State Park, Taum Sauk Mountain State Park, and Missouri Mines Historic Site.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.

Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
