Flora Lorene Helton

Flora Lorene Helton, 83, of Piedmont, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Mark Twain Care Center, Poplar Bluff. She was born September 5, 1934 in Madison County, the daughter of Jess and Flora (King) Wells.

Flora was a loving and devoted wife and mother who loved her family. She was a country girl at heart. December 26, 1977, she married Donald Helton and they shared 40 wonderful years together. She loved the outdoors, gardening, animals and helping neighbors.

Flora is preceded in death by her parents; brothers George, Nelia, Richard, and Jess; and sisters Freda, Opal, and Reda.

She is survived by her husband; daughter: Tracy Lea Fletcher of Orlando, Florida; grandson Dustin Boyer of Orlando; great-granddaughter Liliana Boyer of Orlando; brother Ora Wells and wife Betty of Fredericktown; sisters Rachel “Geraldine” Wisdom and husband Ray, Hazel Duckett and Maple Bilbrey all of Poplar Bluff; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held at Carson Hill Cemetery near Mill Spring, Missouri, Wednesday, May 23, 2018. Pastor Cathy Hinklin ministered to the family. James Ruegg, Alex Ruegg, Paul Duckett, and Ronnie Henson served as pallbearers.
