Three injured in crashes
Two people were injured in a one-vehicle crash Tuesday at 10:25 a.m. on Highway 8 in Washington County near the St. Francois County line.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Elizabeth Jones, 27, of Bismarck, was driving her 2008 Kia Amanti eastbound on Highway 8 at Mounts Road when she fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle went off the right side of the roadway, struck a culvert and overturned, ejecting Jones’ passenger, Kristin Eye, 35, of Mineral Point.
Jones was wearing her seat belt and was taken to Washington County Memorial Hospital by St. Francois County Ambulance with moderate injuries. Eye was not wearing her seat belt and was taken by Washington County Ambulance to St. Anthony’s Hospital with serious injuries.
A Bonne Terre man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident Monday night, with the second vehicle leaving the scene of the accident, according to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The report states that Joseph James, 26, of Bonne Terre, was traveling eastbound on Route O east of College Road at 7:20 p.m. when the accident occurred.
James was reportedly attempting to pass an unidentified second vehicle in his 1995 Dodge Neon when the left side of the second vehicle struck the right side of James’ vehicle, causing him to travel off the left side of Route O and strike a tree.
The second vehicle reportedly left the scene.
James received serious injuries in the accident and was transported by Air Evac to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

An area man suffered serious injuries after an unknown vehicle ran him of the road and fled the scene.
