Volleyball: Valle prevails in home finale

STE. GENEVIEVE – Lainey Bauman recorded seven aces within 14 service points, along with five digs in her final home contest as Valle Catholic dismantled Potosi 25-10, 25-7 on Thursday night.

Ella Bertram knocked down a team-high seven kills, and equaled setter Rachel Loida as part of five shared blocks for the Lady Warriors (17-9).

Loida matched Riley Siebert with four kills each, and provided 12 assists with four digs in the victory. Hannah Drury notched eight points with two aces, and Brooke Viox had six serve receptions.

Valle Catholic drew the No. 5 seed for next week’s MAAA Tournament, and will complete across town on Monday in a pool with Bismarck and host Ste. Genevieve.

Jackson 2, Ste. Genevieve 1

JACKSON, Mo. – Jennifer Humbolt starred with 11 kills, 15 digs, 26 serve receptions and three blocks, but Ste. Genevieve was outlasted 25-18, 22-25, 25-21 by Jackson on the road.

Ella Reed compiled seven kills, seven digs and a team-high 12 service points for the Dragons (14-9-4). Julia McKlin added six kills with four blocks, including two solos.

Jaida Greminger totaled 15 digs, and Megan Schweigert produced two aces and 14 receptions along the Ste. Genevieve back row.

Brittney Kreitler finished with 15 assists and eight digs. Haley Grass, Sydney Bumgardaner and Marysa Flieg notched four kills each.

St. Paul 2, Kingston 0

CADET – St. Paul (8-7) moved about the .500 mark overall with a 25-23, 25-16 victory at Kingston.

Jerzie Ware tallied five kills and eight digs in defeat for the Lady Cougars.

Windsor 2, Potosi 0

POTOSI – Windsor spoiled the home finale for Potosi with a 25-19, 25-15 victory on Wednesday night.

Olivia Coleman paced Potosi (8-13) with four kills, five digs and the team’s lone block.

Jessi Nicholson made eight assists, Chelbi Poucher served two aces and Carley Hampton picked up three digs in defeat.
