Marguerite (Detring) Hampton

LIBERTYVILLE — Marguerite (Detring) Hampton, 87, of Farmington, Missouri, passed away on October 19, 2018, in her home surrounded by loved ones.

Marguerite was born September 12, 1931, in Bonne Terre, Missouri, and was the daughter of Frank and Maggie (Lewis) Detring. Marguerite was married to Orville Hampton on October 12, 1951. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where she worked as a telephone operator. After retirement, Marguerite was active in the Libertyville Methodist Church. She volunteered in the gift shop at Farmington Community/Parkland Hospital in Farmington. She spent a lot of time with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She traveled with her husband and took many summer trips with her granddaughter, Stephanie. During the holidays, she cooked amazing dinners and she loved Cardinals baseball.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her mother and father; brother, Frank Detring; and her husband, Orville Hampton. She is survived by her son Dale and daughter-in-law, Sonja Hampton; dear sister-in-law, Hollie Detring; her grandchildren, Dale Hampton and Stephanie (Jacob) Pfaff; her three special great-grandchildren, Brennden, Dahlia, and Leo Pfaff.

Marguerite will always be remembered for her infectious smile and sense of humor. She worked hard and loved us all even harder. In her final days, Marguerite had many visitors. The family would like to thank everyone for their concerned phone calls and visits during her last days. Seeing her happy and visiting with the people that she loved brought us all comfort.

There will be a grave side service at the Libertyville Methodist Cemetery on Wednesday October 24, 2018, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Serenity Hospice in Park Hills, Missouri. Arrangements are under the care of C.Z. Boyer & Son — Taylor Chapel in Farmington.
