Three injured in accidents

Three individuals were injured in separate, one-vehicle accidents Thursday and Friday, according to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a wreck occurred at approximately 3:55 p.m. on Thursday on Route N south of Lake Avalon Road.

The one-vehicle accident occurred when a 2002 Ford Focus driven by Derick Stokes, 23, of Park Hills, was travelling northbound and went off the right edge of the road. After over-correcting, Stokes’ vehicle slid off the left edge of the roadway and struck an embankment, overturned and struck a fence.

Stokes reportedly received moderate injuries in the accident and was transported to Parkland Health Center by ambulance.

An unrelated accident was reported by the patrol Friday morning, occurring on Highway 221 north of Bray Road.

The report states that the accident occurred when a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue driven by Abigail Fishbeck, 19, of Farmington, was travelling eastbound at approximately 8:15 a.m. on 221.

Fishbeck reportedly applied her brakes and steered to the left to avoid striking the vehicle in front of her. Her vehicle traveled off the left side of the road and struck a culvert.

Fishbeck is reported to have received serious injuries in the accident and was transported to Parkland Health Center by ambulance.

A third accident was reported by the Missouri State Highway Patrol to have occurred on Route B north of Russell Road at approximately 11:55 a.m. on Friday.

The report states that Anthony Lee, 18, of Doe Run, was travelling northbound on Route B in a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt when he swerved to avoid striking an animal in the roadway. Lee’s vehicle traveled off the west side of the roadway and struck a pole.

The report states that Lee received moderate injuries in the accident and was transported to Parkland Health Center by ambulance.
