Seven injured in weekend crashes

A two-vehicle accident on Saturday in Washington County injured three adults and one child, according to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The report states that the accident occurred at approximately 1:10 p.m. on Highway 8 at Ameren Drive in Washington County.

Rita West, 34, of Potosi, was reportedly stopped in a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado while waiting to make a left turn.

Savanna Schaefer, 20, of Mineral Point, reportedly struck West’s vehicle from the rear while she was stopped. Also in the 1990 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Schaefer were passengers Destiny Kopplemann, 3, of Mineral Point and Angel Resendiz, 45, of Mineral Point.

Schaefer and Resendiz reportedly sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital South by ambulance. West and Koppleman both received minor injuries and were transported to Washington County Memorial Hospital and Mercy Hospital South, respectively.

The damage to both vehicles is listed as total. According to the report, noone in Schaefer’s vehicle was wearing a seat belt. 

Three individuals were injured in a crash on Bohr Road in Washington County Sunday morning.

According to patrol reports, at 11:28 a.m. Bobby Pickett, 67, of Potosi, was driving a 2002 Toyota 4 Runner when it went off the roadway, collided with a utility pole and overturned. 

Pickett and his passengers, David King, 50, of Mineral Point, and Paul Trokey, 63, of Mineral Point, all received moderate injuries and were taken to Washington County Memorial Hospital. 

Reports state Pickett was not wearing a seat belt and was also cited for DWI.
