Roundup: Lady Cats celebrate winning weekend

CREVE COEUR, Mo. – Freshman Kyndal Dodd recorded a shutout with seven saves between the pipes, and the Fredericktown girls soccer team topped Carlinville (Ill.) 2-0 on Saturday.

Abby Parson and Alayna Buxton netted goals for the Lady Blackcats (7-1) after the contest remained scoreless through halftime.

Alivia Buxton and Mallory Mathes contributed the assists.

Fredericktown was also in action Friday night at Lou Fusz Soccer Complex, and surged past Hazelwood West 5-2 amid cool and damp conditions.

Alivia Buxton finished with two goals and one assists. Mathes, Parson and Alayna Buxton also tallied for the Lady Blackcats, who carried a 3-1 advantage at intermission.

Dodd stopped seven of nine shots for the win, and Callie Slinkard added an assist.

Rebel Relays

PARK HILLS – Track sprinter Isaac Gaghen contributed to 32 points for the Potosi boys during the Rebel Relays as 12 schools participated Friday at Central High School.

The Trojans earned 4×100 victory as Gaghen was followed by Zach Haynes, Josh Allen and Kyle Miller. Gaghen also raced the opening legs of second-place results in the 4×200 and 4×400 relays.

Darren Reese was champion of the 800 with teammate Brett Lynch taking second. They were second and third, respectively, in the 1600.

Peyton Skiles picked up another high jump victory, and the Lady Trojans celebrated a 4×100 win from Jayleen Like, Carley Hampton, Cameryn Yount and Annie McCaul.

Kayley Heeter finished second in the 1600, and McCaul continued a productive meet by taking second in the 400 and third in the 100-meter hurdles.

Inclement weather forced numerous field competitions to be canceled with 27 of 38 scheduled events being officially scored.

Jake Casey crossed second in the 100-meter dash for the Central boys, and Liberty Coleman was topped only by Skiles in the high jump for the host Lady Rebels.

Runner-up efforts from Jocelyn Cunningham in the javelin and Emma Gerstner in the triple jump paced the Farmington girls.

Jackson compiled a high total of 201 combined team points.
