Mineral Area College’s Little Theater Guild will perform “9 to 5: The Musical,” April 10-13.
The performance, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, is based on the seminal 1980 hit movie. Set in the late 1970s, this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic.
The musical premiered in Los Angeles in September 2008 and opened on Broadway in April 2009. It received fifteen Drama Desk Award nominations, which was the most received by a production in a single year, as well as four Tony Award nominations. A national tour in the US launched in 2010, followed by a UK premiere in 2012. It opened in the West End in February 2019.
MAC performances are at 7 p.m. nightly, April 10 – 13, in the Fine Arts Theater at the Park Hills Campus. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the MAC Bookstore or at the door on the night of the performances. Prices are $7 for general admission and $3 for all students and senior citizens.
The cast list includes Bailey Sipp, Hunter Reece, Hannah Duncan, Jordan Duncan, Jen Stokes, Dorian Carrillo, Josh Barton, Dean Pope, Grace Miller, Shay Starz, Jonathan Turner, Bailey Jackson, Mary Whaley, and Bob Wells.
The next performance of the Little Theatre Guild is “Drop Dead”, which will be performed June 20 – 22. Auditions will be held on May 5 at 2 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theater at Mineral Area College in Park Hills.
