MAC softball gets neutral sweep of North Arkansas

LEBANON, Mo. – The Mineral Area softball team swept its doubleheader on a neutral field against North Arkansas 15-5 and 13-2 on Friday.

Lexi Adams, Desiree Thomas, Abbi Sampson, Alyssa Sago, Kati McCormack and RikkiLyn Wright each had two hits in the opening game.

Adams homered, drove in three and scored twice, while Wright and Paige Battreal each had two RBI.

Mineral Area (7-15) notched two runs in the first and four in the second for a 6-0 lead.

North Arkansas (2-28) picked up a run in the bottom of the second, and its four-run fourth only arrived after the Lady Cardinals pushed nine more across in the third for a spacious 15-1 margin.

Wright (5-4) pitched a complete game for Mineral Area and struck out three while allowing five runs on seven hits.

The Cardinals completed the sweep thanks to three-hit efforts in game two from Alyssa Rennick and Thomas, who drove in three apiece.

Marissa Worth was 2-for-3, including a home run and tallied five RBI, while Wright drove in three with a home run.

The Lady Cardinals put up four runs in the first, and extended a 6-1 with five in the third.

Rennick threw a complete game for her first win of the season. She struck out five and surrendered two runs on four hits.

Mineral Area will host Lincoln Land on Saturday.
