Homer Chester Gipson
Homer Chester Gipson, 91, of Fredericktown, died Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Stockhoff Memorial Nursing Center in Fredericktown. He was born May 21, 1927 in Buckhorn, Missouri, a son of Charley Jefferson and Lucy Jane (Johnson) Gipson.
Mr. Gipson married Gladys Catherine Moser November 21, 1945 in Greenville, Missouri. She preceded him in death on June 15, 2005. His parents; infant son James Richard Gipson; grandson R.C. Hovis; son-in-law James Leroy Hovis; and brothers Elva, Lonzo, Oscar, Elza and Leonard also preceded Mr. Gipson.
Survivors include sons Charles Gipson and wife Pat and Dean Gipson and wife Donna, both of Fredericktown; daughters Jane Hinkle and husband Bob, Kathy Myers and husband Bob, Glenda Hovis, Betty Hovis and husband Carl and Mary Brotherton and husband Wayne all of Fredericktown; 14 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Homer was a self-employed logger and enjoyed working with Charles, Dean and R.C.. He also enjoyed deer hunting, gardening, music and playing his guitar.
Funeral services were Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown with Pastor Kenny Burchard officiating. Interment was at the Barrett Cemetery near Buckhorn.
