Woman found beaten in her home

As of press time, an arrest was anticipated in the case of a woman found beaten in her home over the weekend.

Park Hills Sgt. Summer Bess confirmed that a 45-year-old female had been found beaten in her home in Park Hills early Saturday.

Bess said police had identified a person of interest in the case and had issued a “stop and hold” on the person and their vehicle.

The victim was taken at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. As of late Saturday morning the victim was still unconscious, Bess said.

“Her condition is hard to determine as of yet because she has not been responsive to medical staff or police,” said Bess.

The woman lived alone and so at least initially it was not being investigated as a traditional domestic assault. It was unclear what connection, if any, there was between the victim and the person being sought by police.

This is an ongoing investigation and more information will be provided as the story unfolds.
