Madison County Commission Minutes

December 12, 2022, the Madison County Commission met pursuant to adjournment on December 5, 2022. Presiding Commissioner Jason Green, First District Commissioner Tom Stephens, and Second District Commissioner Larry Kemp attended the meeting.

After the Pledge of Allegiance, Presiding Commissioner Green called the meeting to order. The following business was transacted:

Commissioner Kemp made a motion to approve the agenda. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Stephens The motion carried.

County Clerk Don Firebaugh read the minutes for the meeting on December 5, 2022. Commissioner Kemp made a motion to approve the minutes as presented. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Stephens. The motion carried.

ROAD AND BRIDGE DEPARTMENT

Shannon Spain, Road and Bridge Supervisor said the department is mowing, grading, hauling rock, and patching blacktop. He said one of the road graders has a hydraulic pump leaking and will be repaired.

NEW COUNTY ROAD

A survey and request to establish a new road was presented by Lance Cureton and Neel Construction Co. to the Commission last week. After determining the road was up to county standards, Commissioner Stephens made a motion to establish a new county road. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Green. The motion carried. CR 528 is established.

COMMISSIONER REPORTS

The Commissioners said they checked on some roads and some bridges in the county last week.

Commissioner Kemp said the deck has been poured on the bridge on CR 275. Some welding and painting is in progress.

Tate Lietzau-Mouer, Engineer from Brockmiller Construction Co. presented change orders #12, #13, and #14 for approval for the Justice Center. They include a surge protection system and replacement of the LED lighting system that was destroyed with a power surge when Ameren Electric lost power a few weeks ago.

A walk around the outside of the building is scheduled today.

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE

Madison County Treasurer Jessica Stevens presented accounts payable for the past week. Commissioner Stephens made a motion to approve paying the accounts. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Kemp. The motion carried.

Having no further business, Commissioner Green adjourned the meeting at 10:17 a.m.
