Barbara ‘Barb’ Sue Battles

BONNE TERRE – Barbara “Barb” Sue Battles of Bonne Terre entered into eternal rest on December 12, 2022, at home at the age of 82. She was born February 27, 1940, in Kennett, Missouri, to the late William Ferris Battles and Lorraine (Clark) Battles.

Barb grew up in Missouri and was the eldest of eight children, whom she proudly helped to raise. She held the Missouri high school state record in shot put for many years. While serving in the US Army she traveled the world, experiencing many cultures, working as a typesetter for numerous newspapers, and living a full life that has given her such incredible stories to share. There aren’t many things she didn’t do. Up until her passing she worked front gate security at Lake Timberline. Some of her greatest accomplishments are her animals, her family and her faith. Barb never met a stranger, and was always lending a helping hand or whipping up someone’s favorite dessert or meal. She was the most gracious, honest, caring, Krispy Kreme loving, God fearing soul to walk this earth and it’s a better place because of her. Her legacy of goodness will continue with those whose lives she’s touched, as there are countless.

Barb is survived by her daughters, Judy Gordon of Missouri, Linda Chambers and Angie Gaudette, both of Virginia, her son, Louis Cehen, Jr. of South Dakota, 10 grandchildren: Billy, Crystal, Zach, Travis, Char, TJ, Skye, Madison, Melissa, Erica, 13 great-grandchildren, brothers Teddy Battles, Tommy Battles and sister Billie Battles. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers Kenneth, Jackie, sisters, Brenda and Betty.

Her memorial service will be held at GraceWay Ministries at 5006 Flat River Road, Farmington, MO 63640 on Tuesday, December 20th at 1 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at the Lake Timberline Paddle Club at 9400 Skyline Drive, Bonne Terre, MO 63628 on Wednesday, December 21st at 4 p.m. The family would love for all who knew Barb to join us at either of these events as we remember and celebrate her.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cozean Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in her memory to the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri (swh.org) or GraceWay Ministries (gracewayconnect.com.
