William A. ‘Bill’ Cassity
MARSHALL. MO. – William A. “Bill” Cassity, 87, of Farmington, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at StoneBridge Senior Living in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
Born October 11, 1935, in Cassoday, Kansas, he was the son of the late Fred Cassity and Frances White Cassity. In May of 1956, he married Mary Frances Toennies who later divorced. On June 15, 1968, he married Ruby J. McGraw Peel who preceded him in death on August 27, 2022. He had lived in Farmington most of his life and retired from the federal government. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Farmington, and a 4th degree member of Knights of Columbus. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a member of the VFW. He was also a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. He loved to hunt and travel.
Survivors include four children, Teresa Cassity of Radom, Illinois, Brian Cassity (Mary Beth) of Tamaroa, Illinois, Cheryl Skibinski of Ashley, Illinois, and Bonnie Witges of Scheller, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Shawn Chesnek, Kami Fairchild, Jordan Chesnek, Chelsey Woodside, Kyle Cassity, Jacob Skibinski, Sara Lamczyk, Brian Witges and Caleb Witges; 15 great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Brad Peel (Robin) of Robertsville, Missouri and Gary Peel of St. Charles, Missouri; three step-grandchildren, Allison Peel, Jonathan Peel and Brett Peel; one step-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Robert (Bob) Cassity (Anita) of Mobile, Alabama, and Don Cassity (Donna) of Omaha, Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Mildred Cassity; and two sons-in-law, Rick Skibinski and Clarence Witges.
Graveside services with military rites will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 7, 2023, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall, Missouri. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com.
