According to a probable cause statement from the Farmington Police Department, officers were called to CB Dispensary’s Farmington location on Aug. 6 regarding a burglary. Store owners reportedly showed officers the broken front door and surveillance footage of the person who allegedly broke the front door and stole merchandise from the store, including a hooded sweatshirt and two jars of marijuana.
Officers were called back to the same dispensary for another burglary the next day. A review of surveillance video reportedly showed the same individual from the day before entering the building and taking seven more jars of marijuana products. An owner of the dispensary allegedly contacted police and told them a car was driving around the area with a driver who looked like the person who burglarized the store.
The report states investigators found the car and determined the driver was the person in the surveillance videos. The vehicle allegedly belonged to Mecey. In the report, officers say a hammer and the stolen hooded sweatshirt were in plain view in the car. After a search of the vehicle, police say most of the merchandise was recovered. The reported cost of stolen merchandise and property damage was nearly $4,500.
Mecey has a second pending case with St. Francois County from April of this year. He is charged with misdemeanor driving while revoked/suspended. Both cases are scheduled for court on Sept. 7 in the St. Francois County Courthouse. The felony case is a 1:30 p.m. counsel status hearing, and the misdemeanor case is a 9 a.m. initial appearance.
A criminal history for Mecey on Missouri Case Net shows a prior misdemeanor conviction for passing a bad check and a prior misdemeanor for driving while revoked/suspended. Mecey is currently out of jail on a $5,000 cash/surety bond with special conditions.
