Robert Leon Civey

BONNE TERRE – Bob Civey, 81, of Bonne Terre, passed away August 22, 2023, at Meadowbrook in Pilot Knob. He was born the eldest son of Arthur “Paul” and Effie Laura (Williams) Civey, in St. Louis, January 23, 1942. Bob graduated from Valley High School in 1960 and continued his education at St. Louis University, graduating with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He spent his career educating students at Mineral Area College until his retirement. In his spare time, you could have found Bob at Donelson’s Cycles selling motorcycles  Motorcycling was something he enjoyed doing, as well as attending his grandchildren’s sporting and school events. Bob was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #12 in Caledonia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Laura Ann Civey; grandson, Derek Scott Burch; son in-law, Victor Lee; sister, Ruth Ann Maxwell and husband Bob; brothers, John and David Civey; and two nephews, Michael and Jeffry Civey.

Bob was a loving husband to his wife of 9 years, Christine (Pettus) Civey; a father to Anita Henson and husband Brad, Jason Civey and wife Melissa; step-father to Angie Ibaviosa and husband John, Lisa Umfleet and husband Marty; adoring grandfather to Ryan Burch, Madeline Civey, Andrew Civey, Tyler (Maddi) Murphy, Landon Murphy, Romy Murphy, Devin (Cheyenne) Henson, Austin (Danielle) Lee, Madi Lee, Morgan (Austin) Brandon, Molly (Ian) Smith, Noah Umfleet, Nora Umfleet; and six great-grandchildren; one brother, Rev. George Civey; many nieces, nephews and dear friends also survive.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Saturday, September 2, 2023, from 10 a.m. until funeral time of 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Randy Murphy officiating. Interment will follow at Primrose Baptist Cemetery in Bonne Terre. Memorials may be directed to Primrose Cemetery Fund in honor of Bob’s memory.
