Senior dies in crash

A driver experienced a medical event that ended in tragedy Thursday evening in St. Francois County.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, 80-year-old Fern E. Kennedy of Park Hills was traveling north on Landfill Road north of Highway P near Desloge when he suffered a medical event causing the vehicle to run off the road and hit a tree. The victim, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene by St. Francois County Coroner Jason Coplin at 8:04 p.m.

The 2012 Toyota Tacoma driven by Kennedy was listed as totaled and was taken from the scene by Marler’s Towing.

A two-car accident on Hillsboro Road, south of Mulligan Drive, resulted in injuries to both drivers on Thursday evening at 8:10 p.m.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Taylor P. Hahl, 29, of Farmington was attempting a left turn when he was struck on the right side by a 2021 Yamaha YZFRE driven by a 17-year-old juvenile from Park Hills.

The juvenile suffered serious injuries and was taken by Air Evac to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. Taylor Hahl received minor injuries and was taken by St. Francois County Emergency Medical Services to Parkland Health Center.

The Volkswagen Jetta driven by Hahl was listed as sustaining extensive damage. The Yamaha YZFR3 motorcycle was totaled. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by Boyd Towing.
