Cross Country Cats open season at Jackson

The Blackcats Cross Country team opened the season in Jackson Aug. 26.
Results were divided by gender and grade level for the 1.95 mile course through Jackson City Park.
The FHS freshman girls set the tone for the season, racing to a second place team finish for a plaque. Laila Stephens led the way in third, followed closely by Breanna Bone in sixth, Charis Moss finished 15th and Larkin Strong was 22nd. All four also earned individual medals.
In the junior girls’ race, Maddison Phares earned a medal with a top 25 finish.
Senior Braden Braswell and junior Ethan Vance competed on the boys’ side.
The FHS Cross Country team will compete along with the Kelly A. Burlison Middle School squad, Sept. 9, at Arcadia Valley.
