FHS wins volleyball battle of Blackcats

The Fredericktown High School volleyball team defeated the Herculaneum Blackcats, 25-11, 23-25, 25-17, 25-7, Monday, here.

Fredericktown cruised in the opening game, but Herculaneum was able to take advantage of some unforced errors in winning the second. The visitors led 12-10 in the third game before Fredericktown went on a 9-0 run on its way to the victory. The home team Blackcats used a 13-0 run to help capture the fourth game and the match.

The victory over Herculaneum came in the first of three home matches this week for the Cats. Fredericktown hosts Scott City Wednesday and South Iron Thursday.
