Tennis team wins opener

The Fredericktown High School tennis team defeated Charleston, 9-0 in the Cats’ season opener, Aug. 28, here.

In singles play, Emiley Geen won, 8-1; Dani West won, 8-1; Clara Basden won, 8-5; Nina Lewis won, 8-1, Becca Bell won, 8-0; and Ella Clauser won, 8-0.

In doubles, Geen and Basden won, 8-1; West and Lewis won, 8-0; and Bell and Clauser won, 8-0.

The Cats host Farmington, Thursday.
