UPDATE: City of Leadwood no longer under boil water advisory
9-7 Update:
The boil water advisory for the City of Leadwood has been lifted after the state approved the city’s water quality.
Original story:
The City of Leadwood is under a boil water advisory until Thursday or Friday of next week.
According to City Clerk Amanda Queen, the advisory was issued due to a major water line break that occurred yesterday and has now been repaired. The boil order can’t be lifted, however, until after testing has been completed. Due to the Labor Day weekend, the testing process will be delayed.
Leadwood residents are advised to:
• Use bottled or boiled water for drinking and to prepare and cook food. If bottled water is not available, bring water to a full rolling boil for one minute. After boiling, allow the water to cool before use.
• Boil tap water even if it is filtered. For example, buy a home water filter or a pitcher that filters water.• Do not use water from any appliance connected to your water line, such as ice and water from a refrigerator.
• If you formula feed your child, provide ready-to-use formula, if possible.
• Brush your teeth with boiled or bottled water.
• Pets can get sick from the same germs as people. Use bottled or boiled water for pets.
