Softball remains undefeated

The Fredericktown High School softball team improved to 5-0 with a pair of victories, last week.
The Cats came from behind to rout Herculaneum, 19-5, at Herculaneum, Aug. 30.
Fredericktown trailed 5-0 after two innings. The Cats scored five runs to tie the game in the top of the third and added a run in the fourth to take a 6-5 lead.
The Cats put the game away with five runs in the sixth inning and eight more in the seventh. Meanwhile, FHS pitcher Michaela Reagan held the home team scoreless the final five innings.
Reagan and Laynee King each had three hits. Jonsyn Rehkop, Calie Allgier, Allie Bloom, and Miley Wengler each had two hits. Allgier scored four runs. Bloom, Wengler, Regan, and King each had three RBI.
Regan pitched the final six innings in relief and allowed two unearned runs on three hits. She walked two batters and struck out 11.
August 31, the Cats defeated the Saxony Lutheran Crusaders, 10-8, here.

The Cats led 10-0 after four innings. Saxony was able to score three in the fifth and five in the eighth to make it a closer game.
Rehkop, Sadie Gibson, Bloom, and Reagan each had two hits. Rehkop scored three runs and Reagan drove home three.
The Cats play at North County, Thursday.
