The annual Help the Hungry Bar-B-Que, sponsored by Auffenberg Chevrolet in Farmington, returns to the Parkland from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday.
The fundraiser sells bag lunches with a choice of a pulled pork sandwich or barbecue hamburger, chips, a treat and bottled water for $7. Like the annual Help the Hungry Bake Sale held in November, all proceeds from the fundraiser go to support the St. Vincent de Paul and Ministerial Alliance food pantries.
To place a preorder, visit the Help the Hungry Bake Sale on Facebook or email the order to helpthehungryBBQ@gmail.com. The deadline for preorders is noon Thursday. Preorders can be picked up, and bag lunches may be purchased the day of the event at Auffenberg Chevrolet Buick GMC, 830 Valley Creek Drive or Memorial United Methodist Church, 425 North St.
Carhop service will be available at both locations.
“The Help the Hungry Bar-B-Que has helped a lot in drawing attention to the needs of our two Farmington food pantries,” said Chris Landrum, Help the Hungry Committee chairperson. “And, of course, all the money raised from the barbecue will be added to the funds we raise at the upcoming Help the Hungry Bake Sale in November. We hope everyone will support the Help the Hungry Bar-B-Que again this year.”
Landrum added that the Help the Hungry Bake Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, November 18, at the St. Joseph Catholic School gymnasium at 501 Ste. Genevieve Avenue.
