Zangaro named Female Athlete of the Week

The Ste. Genevieve High School cross country team competed in the Arcadia Valley Invitational on Saturday.

Dragons junior Hollyn Zangaro finished sixth among 121 runners with a time of 20:39.

That is why she was chosen as the Parkland Area Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 9.

“Hollyn is very determined and very competitive,” Ste. Genevieve Cross Country Coach Sierra Boyd said. “She works hard at practice and is motivated for each workout. She encourages her teammates to give their best, too.”

Zangaro said this is her sixth year competing in cross country.

“I like competing for the character it builds and the way it pushes me and creates a sense of community with the people around me,” she said.

Zangaro said she competes in wrestling and in track and field. She is also a member of the Ste. Genevieve High School Marching Band.

She said her favorite classes in high school are personal finance, history and earth science.
