Modern Woodmen recognize Matthews

Debbie Bearden of Modern Woodmen(right) presents the organization’s “Hometown Hero” award to Connie Matthews.

As part of its Hometown Heroes program, Modern Woodmen of America members in this area recently recognized Connie Matthews for her volunteer work in Madison County.

The award included a monetary gift which Matthews gave to the Downtown Revitalization and Restoration organization.

The award stated: “You believe in volunteer service, and so do we! As a fraternal financial services organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for families and communities, we recognize your accomplishments and appreciate your contribution to your community. You’re truly a hometown hero!”

In addition, Matthews received $2,500 in matching grant funds from Modern Woodmen for the Optimist Club soccer program.
