Softball team splits with MAAA foes

The Fredericktown High School softball team split two games with conference opponents this past week.

September 7, Fredericktown won, 10-6, at North County.

The host Raiders got on the scoreboard first with arun in the bottom of the first inning. Fredericktown took the lead for good with four runs in the top of the third. The Cats added six in the fourth to take a commanding lead.

Miley Wengler is tagged out on a close play at the plate in the cats’ victory at North County, Sept. 7.

Calie Allgier and Miley Wengler each had a double and a single for the Cats. Jonsyn Rehkop, Sadie Gibson, and Michaela Reagan also had two hits each. Rehkop, Allgier, and Gibson each scored twice. Allgier had four RBI.

Reagan got the complete game victory, allowing one earned run on nine hits. She struck out five Raiders.

Monday, the Cats hosted Farmington. The lead changed hands three times in the first five innings. The Cats led 3-2 before the Knights scored five in the sixth and six more in the seventh to win, 13-3.

Allgier and Reagan each had RBI doubles to give Fredericktown the lead. Gibson also drove home a run with a double.

The Cats, 6-1, play in the St. Pius Tournament, Friday and Saturday.
