Tennis Cats complete busy week

Clara Basden and Emiley Geen take second place in doubles Thursday, at the Sikeston Invitational Tournament.

The Fredericktown High School tennis team played two matches and a tournament last week and got things started again Monday with another dual match.

September 5, FHS lost 8-1 to North County, despite some close matches on the singles side. In doubles, the Cats’ Becca Bell and Ella Clauser won 8-6.

September 6, Fredericktown lost 7-2 to Saxony Lutheran. Haley Tucker won her singles match, 8-6; and Bell won 8-4 in her singles match. Fredericktown lost a pair of matches in tiebreakers against the Crusaders.

Thursday, the Cats played in the Sikeston Invitational, where Clara Basden and Emiley Geen were able to capture second place in doubles.

Monday, Sept. 11, the Cats hosted St. Pius. The Lancers won, 7-2. Geen and Basden won their doubles match, 8-6; and Basden won 9-7 in singles.

The Cats host Windsor today (Sept. 13) and Potosi, Thursday.
