Volleyball Cats compete in tournament

The Fredericktown High School volleyball team competed in the Dig for Life Tournament, Friday and Saturday, in Cape Girardeau.
The Blackcats began pool play Friday, defeating Dexter 25-21, 25-16; and Winona 25-23, 25-17. Saturday, Fredericktown played Notre Dame. The Bulldogs won the first set, 25-22, but the Cats came back to take the second, 25-20. Based on point differential, Fredericktown won its pool.
Later, Saturday, the Cats opened bracket play by defeating Lesterville, 25-22, 25-13. The Cats then won 25-20, 25-19 against South Iron. In the tournament quarterfinals, Fredericktown suffered its first loss of the season falling 25-21, 25-21 to Central.
Monday, Fredericktown won a match at Ellington in straight sets, 26-24, 25-14, 25-18.
The Cat, 9-1-1, host West County, Thursday.
