The Fredericktown High School football team ran into a juggernaut, Friday.

Perennial power Valle defeated the Cats, 58-0, Friday, in Ste. Genevieve.

Valle had a long kick return on the opening kickoff and scored two plays later. After a Fredericktown punt, another two-play Warriors’ drive made it 14-0 with 9:28 to play in the first quarter. The home team added three more first quarter touchdowns and one just seven seconds into the second quarter to jump ahead 42-0.

Valle scored two more times in the second quarter and led 56-0 at halftime.

Neither offense scored in the second half, as the only points came on a safety with 3:03 to play in the game.

Cats quarterback Easton Wood completed seven of 15 passes for 48 yards. Carter Cheaney caught three passes for 20 yards. Mason Proffer and LeeAndrea Catchings each had seven tackles for the Cats. Maddox Knepper had three sacks.

Fredericktown plays its home opener, Friday night, as the Cats host Ste. Genevieve. It will also be Armed Services/First Responders Night.  The team will honor all service members or veterans, as well as all first responders present at the game.
