Tennis team second in conference tournament

The Fredericktown High School tennis team took second place in the MAAA Tournament with ten points. North County won the tournament with 23. Farmington  and Potosi each scored eight and Arcadia Valley scored five. 

The Cats Becca Bell/Ella Clauser took third place in No. 3 doubles. Clara Basden took second in No. 3 singles. Nina Lewis was first in No. 4 singles. Haley Tucker took second place in No. 5 singles, and Becca Bell was second in No. 6 singles.

In regular matches, the Cats defeated Farmington, 5-4, Sept. 19, at Farmington. Bell/Clauser won in doubles; and Emiley Geen, Basden, Tucker, and Bell all won in singles.

September 21, the Cats lost 8-2 to MAAA champ North County, here. Basden and Tucker won their singles matches against the Raiders.

The Cats played at Arcadia Valley, Sept. 22. The match was postponed by rain and resumed Sept. 25, when the teams met here. Fredericktown won 5-1, sweeping the doubles matches and winning two of the first three singles matches to get the victory.

In the regularly-scheduled match against the Tigers, FHS won, 8-1. Geen/Basden and Bell/Clauser won their doubles matches, and the Cats swept all six singles matches. It was also senior night, and Cats seniors Dani West and Emiley Geen were recognized in their final home match.
