“Blackcats Turn UP” Parade and Celebration, Sunday

The Fredericktown R-I Homecoming Parade will begin at 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 8 with a parade. The route will start at the Rock Wall, travel down Marshall Street, take a left on West College Ave, right on South Wood (bringing the fun right past Stockhoff Nursing Home), right on West Main Street, traveling around the square, and ending on North Main Street at Azalea Park.

Starting Sunday the Fredericktown R-1 School District will have a week-long Homecoming celebration with the theme “Blackcats Turn UP.” 

The festivities are set to kick off on Sunday, October 8, beginning at 3 p.m with the Homecoming Parade. The parade will follow a route that starts at the Rock Wall, travels down Marshall Street, takes a left on West College Avenue, a right on South Wood (passing Stockhoff Nursing Home), a right on West Main Street (around the square), and ends on North Main Street at Azalea Park.

Following the parade, the celebration continues at Wanda Priest (Azalea) Park, where an array of exciting activities awaits. There will be food trucks to satisfy your taste buds, organized pickleball and sand volleyball tournaments for sports enthusiasts, and music to keep the atmosphere lively—all coordinated by the FHS StuCo.

The Broseph Tucker Band will be taking the stage from 4. to 8 p.m., adding to the excitement of the day. And with a fantastic lineup of food trucks, including Iron Dozs, Roxy’s, Montgomery’s Mini’s and More, Copper Cactus, Mudcat, The Ragin’ Rooster Irish Pub, 1Up Food Truck, Farmhouse, and Bogo on the Gogo, your taste buds are in for a treat.

District-wide staff and students will be dressing to fit the themes and the community is invited and encouraged to join in. Dress Up Days will include:

  • Monday with “Giddy Up” country 
  • Tuesday “Ball Up” sports
  • Wednesday “Grown Up” elderly
  • Thursday “Wake Up” pajamas
  • Friday “Squad Up” black and gold
