MADISON COUNTY COMMISSION MINUTES

Monday, September 25, 2023, the Madison County Commission met pursuant to adjournment on September 18, 2023. Presiding Commissioner Jason Green, First District Commissioner Tom Stephens and Second District Commissioner Larry Kemp attended the meeting. County Clerk Don Firebaugh recorded the proceedings. Tenia Hermann, Richard McAfee, Ivan Kranjec, and Bill Brewen attended the meeting.

After the Pledge of Allegiance, Commissioner Green called the meeting to order. The following business was transacted:

Commissioner Kemp made a motion to approve the agenda. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Stephens. The motion carried. 

County Clerk Don Firebaugh read the minutes for the meeting on September 18, 2023. Commissioner Stephens made a motion to approve the minutes as presented. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Kemp. The motion carried.

ROAD AND BRIDGE DEPARTMENT

Road and Bridge Supervisor Shannon Spain said the blacktopping work on CR 334 and CR 529 is complete. He said the department is grading and blacktopping.

RICHARD MCAFEE – CR 519

Richard McAfee asked about possibly closing part of CR 519. He said he is the only resident on the end of the road past a cattle guard and would like to see it closed.

The Commission gave him the required course of action.

 IVAN KRANJEC

Ivan Kranjec told the Commissioners that he appreciated the work from the Road and Bridge department after the high water he received a few weeks ago. He also encouraged that a bridge be replaced on CR 313.

 BILL BREWEN

Bill Brewen said the lights on the Justice Center were causing sleeping problems for renters in his building. The Commission said they will try to do something to alleviate the complaint.

COMMISSIONERS REPORTS

The three Commissioners checked roads and bridges last week.

Presiding Commissioner Green attended the Farm Bureau annual meeting.

Circuit Clerk Tenia Hermann was approved to purchase panic buttons and some cameras to enhance the security of the employees and jurors at the Madison County Justice Center.

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE

County Treasurer Jessica Stevens presented accounts payable for the past week.

Commissioner Stephens made a motion to approve payment of the accounts. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Kemp. The motion carried.

Having no further business, Commissioner Green adjourned the meeting at 10:55 A.M.
