Madison Medical Center Board of Trustees meet

The Madison Medical Center Board of Trustees met October 11, for its regular monthly meeting. The following board members were present:  Denny Ward, Ruth Ann Skaggs, Connie Matthews, Kent Marler, and Libby Wood. MMC staff present: Lisa Twidwell, Administrator/CEO; Allan Sucharski, CFO; Jennifer Penuel, COO; Melissa Helm, Acute Care DON; Kristen Starkey, Nursing Home DON; Carol Hyatt, Director of Physician Practices; Maureen Medley, Administrative Assistant.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               

The following departmental reports were presented to the Board:  Acute Care Nursing, SNF/ICF Nursing, Rural Health Clinic, COO/Human Resources, and CFO.

Kristen Starkey, Nursing Home DON, is one of the organizers of the Compassion Cafe` and serves as an R-1 School Board member. Carol Hyatt, Director of Physician Practices, and Lisa Twidwell, Administrator, are members of the MCCDD board. Linda Rhodes, Pharmacist, is a member of the Optimist Club. Beth Simmons, Marketing Manager, is a University of Missouri Extension Office board member and serves as president of the Madison County Chamber of Commerce. MMC radiology technologist, Betsy Mell, attends the Rotary Club meetings.

The residents of Stockhoff Memorial Nursing Home enjoyed the Homecoming parade Oct. 8, and they greatly appreciated the school including them in the parade route.  The residents are looking forward to a trip to Hobby Lobby and Rural King Oct. 27 and a Halloween party Oct. 31. Residents will be passing out candy to trick-or-treaters on Halloween night. A tour of the fall leaves is being planned for later this month, and the annual Christmas craft sale will be held Nov. 9.

October 12, is “Pink Out Day” at MMC. Employees will have the opportunity to fill out a pink ribbon in honor of a breast cancer survivor, or in memory of someone who lost their battle with the disease.

MMC’s annual audit will begin Nov. 1.

Efforts are being made to recruit a pulmonologist, Jessica H. Zweig, M.D., to provide services in MMC’s Outpatient Clinic. 

The Board approved consulting staff privileges in radiology for Ashley Altman, M.D., a radiologist with the Cape Radiology Group; E.R. privileges for Tirso Aldana, an E.R. physician with EMC; and allied health professional staff privileges for Cindy L. Dulaney, FNP-BC, who will be working with Dr. Piotrowski.

The Missouri Hospital Association’s 101st Annual Convention will be Nov. 1-3 at St. Louis Union Station.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees will be Nov. 8, at 9 a.m. in the West Main Medical Building.
