MADISON COUNTY COMMISSION MINUTES

October 16, 2023, the Madison County Commission met pursuant to adjournment on October 2, 2023. First District Commissioner Tom Stephens and Second District Commissioner Larry Kemp attended the meeting. County Clerk Don Firebaugh recorded the proceedings. Tessa Rehkop, Chamber of Commerce Director attended the meeting.

The County Clerk appointed Commissioner Stephens to preside over the meeting.

After the Pledge of Allegiance, Commissioner Stephens called the meeting to order. The following business was transacted:

Commissioner Kemp made a motion to approve the agenda. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Stephens. The motion carried.

Firebaugh read the minutes for the meeting on October 2, 2023. Commissioner Kemp made a motion to approve the minutes as presented. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Stephens. The motion carried.

ROAD AND BRIDGE DEPARTMENT

Road and Bridge Supervisor Shannon Spain said the department is grading, mowing and patching blacktop. Both John Deere tractors with mowers are running.

COMMISSIONERS REPORTS

Commissioner Stephens checked some roads and bridges last week.

Some officeholders in the courthouse came in to discuss the parking area for county employees. The perimeter around the courthouse is allowed from 8 A.M to 5 P.M., Monday through Friday. Parking at the Justice Center is recommended for the employees working there along with attorneys and required participants. Some overflow parking is available downhill on the west side of the building. The officeholders said they wanted assurance that clients coming to their office for business had parking close to the door, especially handicapped and elderly. There are handicapped parking areas at the Justice Center and the north side of the courthouse.  

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE

County Treasurer Jessica Stevens presented accounts payable for the past week.

Commissioner Kemp made a motion to approve payment of the accounts. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Stephens. The motion carried.

ADJOURN

Having no further business, Commissioner Stephens adjourned the meeting at 10:30 A.M.
